What is Lutron RA3?
RadioRA 3 — RA3 for short — is Lutron’s professionally installed, wireless whole-home system. Lighting, blinds and keypads run as one, controlled from the wall, the Lutron app or your voice.
Its own wireless network
RA3 talks over Lutron’s own radio, independently of your Wi-Fi, through a processor wired to your router.

Lutron blinds & shades on RA3
Lutron’s motorised blinds and curtains join the same system as your lighting, with no third-party bridges — so one button can fade the lights and lower the blinds together.

Triathlon and Palladiom Wire-Free blinds run on batteries; Sivoia QS and Palladiom blinds take low-voltage power, which we run to the window head.

Roller, honeycomb and sheer blinds, wood blinds, curtains on Lutron tracks and tensioned blinds for skylights.

Follows the sun
Blinds can track the sun to cut glare and heat gain, filter UV to protect furnishings and close for privacy at dusk.

Lutron RA3 questions
Yes. Allview Electrical is Lutron-certified, trained and approved to design, install and programme Lutron RA3, and we also design and install Lutron HomeWorks. We’re NAPIT-registered electricians too, so the wiring behind your system and the system itself come from the same team, based in Tonbridge.
For most homes, yes. RA3 (RadioRA 3) is Lutron’s professionally installed wireless system for lighting, blinds and keypads. It works for a single room or a whole house of up to 400 devices, and because it’s wireless it suits finished, lived-in homes as well as renovations. We’ll tell you honestly at the survey whether it’s the right fit.
Most homes are well served by RA3: it’s wireless, retrofit-friendly and scales up to 400 devices. HomeWorks is Lutron’s flagship system for larger, custom whole-home projects, with wired or wireless options and Lutron’s wired keypad ranges, so it often suits new builds and major renovations. We design and install both, and we’ll recommend the one that fits your home and budget.
Usually, yes. RA3 is wireless, so keypads and dimmers can often go into your existing switch positions with no new cabling or chasing walls, and battery blinds and Pico remotes need no wiring at all. Vierti keypads are mains-powered, so each position still needs a live, a neutral and a deep enough back box, and the processor connects to your router with an Ethernet cable. We check every position at the survey and tell you up front where any minor work is needed.
Yes. RA3 works with Apple Home and Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google, so you can run scenes by voice, and the Lutron app gives you control from anywhere. Sonos can be added too, so a keypad or Pico remote can control music alongside your lights and blinds.
Yes. RA3 runs lighting and Lutron blinds natively on one system, with no third-party bridges, so a single button can dim the lights and lower the blinds together, as in a Movie Night scene. Blinds can also follow a schedule or the sun through the day.
